One of the more traditional activities in Japanese Culture is the onsen, or traditional hot springs. Myoko boasts an impressive set of 7 different types of natural hot springs in the area. Feel free to try the outdoor natural hot springs in Tsubame, the water high in mineral content to cleanse your skin as well as enjoy the beautiful outdoors of Japan.

Spa
Indulge and relax in the mountains of Myoko. At the Akakura Kanko Hotel, you can experience a spa package which includes access to the onsen and then a choice of massage, all while enjoying elevated views of the Myoko Valley.

Watersports
Nearby at Lake Nojiri is where you can splash around and enjoy various activities on the lake. Wakeboarding, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding (SUP), fishing or canoeing are all available to enjoy on Lake Nojiri.

Hiking
Another popular activity in the area is hiking and trekking. Off of Mt. Myoko there are many peaks to explore, as well as plateaus and meadows. The summer season is the perfect time to hike in the area. You could choose your range of intensity, from a 20 minute walk in birch trees, to an all day hike summiting a peak nearby.

Golf
Myoko in the summer and fall is home to many golf courses. This draws many people to the area because the average temperature in the summer months is a little cooler than city areas. Enjoy views of the mountains, lake, or even Sea of Japan all in the area.

Kimi No Ii Sake Tasting
Kimi no ii is the local sake in the Myoko area. At the sake brewery you can get a tour of the area, with some structures over 100 years old. The brewery, open since 1842, has tastings and tours all year long.
