The Akakura Kanko Resort, founded in 1937, is one of the oldest ski resorts in Japan and remains one of the country’s premier winter sports destinations. It has also been a sometime holiday destination of the Japanese Imperial Family, including the current Emperor Akihito.
Akakura Village
The Akakura Village sits at the base of the combined Akakura Kanko and Akakrua Onsen ski resort areas. This traditional Japanese ski town is home to a collection of picturesque hotels and Japanese ‘pensions’, restaurants serving authentic Japanese food, fresh coffee, Onsen baths from the natural volcanic springs, a few quiet night spots and of course ski & snowboard shops.
Onsen
